ReDesign: Top-Rank REBEL on aluminium PCB!

We developed this new aluminium PCB for the Luxeon REBEL for best possible heat management. The harmonic cooperation of surface coating and alloy guaranties a very good heat management and accurate dimensions for most common mounting profiles with an inner space of 10mm!

A further advantage is the placement of the plus and minus pads. We produce in stripes which means that you can order a stripe of 10pcs where 10 Rebel are placed on 10 PCBs next to each other (see pictury gallery). By setting a simple soldering bridge you can give series connection to them and have easily developed your own 10cm long and 10mm wide Rebel PCB useable with most common mouting profiles.

The Luxeon Rebel is the smallest surface mountable power LED available today. With the industrys best lumens per package, highest light density (lumens per mm2), and the highest packing density, LUXEON Rebel is ideal for both space-constrained and conventional solid-state lighting applications.

The Rebel is just 3x4.5mm with a foot print area 75% smaller than other SMDs. Its 1mm² chip makes it the clear leader in

Successful usage of high power LEDs:

Heat management

Applications with high power LEDs need enduring, adequate and plane heat conduction from the first moment of use. It is very important and neccessary to get the heat off the devices to ensure the maximum light output, lifetime and efficiancy.

Drive management

LEDs should be run with a constant current in addition to the manufacturers recommendations. To ensure this we recommend to take constant current power supplies because resistors are always a risk factor in high power LED applications.

EMC protection

LEDs are sensitive against heat and electric charge. Please avoid any kind of short circuits or electric discharge to the illuminant. The chip can be damaged or even destroyed.

Storage / JEDEC level

The storage temperature should be from -30°C up to + 80°C in dry ambience. After opening a sealed bag the content should be mounted rapidly. Once absorbed humidity can be removed by tempering the LEDs in some cases. More information can be found in the manufacturers datasheets or on the manufacturer homepages.

Soldering conditions

Each LED has its own soldering conditions that the user should pay attention to. After the launched lead free processing specifications many standarts have changed. Information about recommended soldering can be found in the manufacturers datasheets or on the manufacturer homepages.
