New round PCB with 3x CREE XR-E in R2 bin
...and onboard constant current power supply!
This new power PCB with already mounted Cree LEDs and onboard step-down driver is the perfect all-in-one solution for own applications and halogen alternatives.
Usage: Because of the small diameter of only 44mm the PCB can be used with most downlights you want because it is small enough to fit through the centre hole. By using a 50mm plug-on lense it can easily be mounted like a halogen bulb. Have a look at the picture gallery.
Power consumption: The Cree LEDs are driven on 700mA not depending on the input voltage. Because of the onboard step-down driver the effective power consumption is always equal. Short explanation: The driver need 700mA @ 12V which is ~8.4W. If we use 24V the driver need only 350mA to provide the output of 700mA which is also ~8.4W.
Optics: We can offer two different types of optics for this PCB. 1. LT-585 which is perfect to use when replacing halogen bulbs because it has the neccessary 50mm diameter for downlight mountings. 2: LT-1209 which is a 20° reflector with an enormous light output for application that have to be as bright as possbile.
Cooling: We offer this product as a PCB version only. Each developers may decide what is the best cooling for his application. We recommend to use a well dimensioned round cooler or aluminium surface.
High end SMD technology with fused quartz lense
Cree is one of the pioneers in the development and manufacture of extremely bright and reliable LEDs. The XLamps are up to 50% brighter than other products available in the market. The XLamp product family has integrated Cree High-Power LEDs with innovative SMD (Surface Mounted Device) packaging technology. The resulting product offers optimal conditions for light solutions on LED technology basis at an unrivalled competitive price.
What makes the XLamps special?
- Driveable up tp 1000mA
- Finest selections
- Low operating voltages
- Integrated fused quartz lense
- Dimensions only 7.0x9.0mm
- ESD > 2000V
Of course the XLamp series complies with RoHS criteria too. The PCB diameter is 20mm.
Successful usage of high power LEDs:
Heat management
Applications with high power LEDs need enduring, adequate and plane heat conduction from the first moment of use. It is very important and neccessary to get the heat off the devices to ensure the maximum light output, lifetime and efficiancy.
Drive management
LEDs should be run with a constant current in addition to the manufacturers recommendations. To ensure this we recommend to take constant current power supplies because resistors are always a risk factor in high power LED applications.
EMC protection
LEDs are sensitive against heat and electric charge. Please avoid any kind of short circuits or electric discharge to the illuminant. The chip can be damaged or even destroyed.
Storage / JEDEC level
The storage temperature should be from -30°C up to + 80°C in dry ambience. After opening a sealed bag the content should be mounted rapidly. Once absorbed humidity can be removed by tempering the LEDs in some cases. More information can be found in the manufacturers datasheets or on the manufacturer homepages.
Soldering conditions
Each LED has its own soldering conditions that the user should pay attention to. After the launched lead free processing specifications many standarts have changed. Information about recommended soldering can be found in the manufacturers datasheets or on the manufacturer homepages.
